Great advice. I have a tendency to feel this way about projects and work and it’s a good reminder to have balance especially when the industry is what it is and we have no control of all of that. Thanks James!

You're welcome. It's so easy to get our expectations up and then when they don't happen it's a punch in the gut. Last year I was on the verge of giving up after a few career setbacks, thankfully I didn't and now I'm trying to get back on track with a different perspective on things.

It’s healthy to get perspective on this creative journey and to be gentler to ourselves. I am glad to hear ya didn’t give up and sorry to hear about the setbacks. I’ve recently been stressin’ about wanting some good news and I’m trying to calm my brain. I’ve gotta listen to my own advice and thank you for this timely post, it really came at the right time.

I continually fall back into this trap too. It's so hard not to compare ourselves to others and want recognition. But I think I'll be happier if I just focus on doing the work and not worry about what happens after it leaves my desk.
